Some Takeaways From the Weekend: Don't Gamble on Sports

As I mentioned in a prior post, I don't actually gamble on these games I just pick for my own enjoyment. So for those who missed it, I picked Georgia to cover the 3.5 point spread and win outright against Auburn on Saturday. Things were looking promising until this happened....

How some fellas gamble for a living is beyond me, my god. A complete fluke of a play probably resulted in millions of dollars changing hands. Fortunately for me, I was able to chalk up a fictional loss and just enjoy this ridiculous catch with some buddies. All and all it was a solid week for my predictions (6-3).

Here are some other takeaways from the weekend:

- These new foul call rules in college basketball are absurd. The Ohio St - Marquette game (which was terrible anyway) was stopped every two minutes for a foul call. The NCAA is either going to have to expand to six fouls per player or make the 1-and-1's at like 12 instead of 7. But yea neither of these teams looked very good, anyway.

- Both Michigan and UNC got upset in college hoops over the weekend. Michigan lost to an underrated Iowa St team on the road and UNC lost at home to Belmont. One of these losses is acceptable, the other isn't. Take a guess. Michigan will be fine, it was Mitch McGary's first game back; UNC, on the other hand, is kind of a mess.

- Jack Taylor, the kid who scored 138 points from Division III Grinnell College last year, scored 109 this weekend. He's currently averaging 90 points per game. This could have been me...
